Catering Policies and Guidelines
Chef for a Day Catering™ provides full service on-site catering to a 75+ mile radius of the Pittsburgh, PA area.
(An additional travel fee is associated outside of a 25-mile radius)
We offer a free one-hour consultation, site inspection (sites outside the 75-mile radius may be subject to an additional charge) and initial menu planning. Details of planning for your events after that hour are subject to a $40.00 per hour consultation fee.
We provide the most experienced and professional servers available. Our staff respects and understands each customer’s individual needs. Estimate for number of wait staff, cooks and runners will be given after a number of variables have been answered, mostly the number of guests, type of event (served or buffet), number of dishes and set-up requirements. Once these questions have been answered, we can give you a better idea of staffing costs. All staff are paid $20-$30 per hour and includes drive time. We can provide bartenders but we do not hold a catering liquor license, so cannot purchase or be responsible for consumption of alcohol. If the bar is being serviced by someone other than Chef for a Day Catering™, it should be that vendor's responsibility to remove and clean all barware.
The addition of a 22% gratuity for service personnel will be added to the final payment unless otherwise discussed.
Tastings are made available by request. The cost for tastings will vary depending on the menu selection.
A 50% nonrefundable deposit and credit card number are required at the time you book your event and will be credited to your final invoice. Final payment must be made 10 days in advance of your event, unless other arrangements have been made. Final payments made by credit card will be charged an additional 3% card-handling fee.
We have an excellent relationship with Party Savvy and D&G Rentals and recommend them for all of our events. We can help you arrange your rentals (subject to $40.00 per hour consultation fee) however, rentals are payable directly to the rental company itself.
Must be made ten (10) days in advance of your event. This is the guest count that will be used on your final invoice unless the guest count increases.
Leftovers will be made available to the client when the number of guests served is less than the number of guests guaranteed. Client should be made aware that they should provide containers of some kind if they wish to have leftovers packaged for them. Leftovers will not be made available to the client if the number of guests served is the same or greater than the number of guests guaranteed.
Chef for a Day Catering™ is not responsible for the removal of any garbage unless arrangements have been discussed ahead of time.
If an event is cancelled by the client twenty days or less prior to the event date, you will be charged one-half of the total cost of the event.

The clients agree to irrevocably and unconditionally defend, indemnify and hold harmless Chef for a Day Catering™ from any and all liability, claims, demands, actions and causes of action arising out of or related to any loss, damages, illness, death or injury sustained by any participant in connection with any food, services, personnel, beverages, rental items, props, entertainment, decorations or other items not directly provided by
